Thrilling 2:1 Comeback Victory in the Finals
[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yuk Miseok] Um Hajin, a female ssireum wrestler from the Gurye County Office team in Jeollanam-do, won the 2022 Gangneung Dano Jangsa Ssireum Tournament, achieving her second title of the season.
According to the county, on June 1st, in the women's Chrysanthemum weight class (under 70kg) final, Um Hajin defeated Kim Dahye from Ansan City Office with a 2:1 comeback victory to claim the Bull Trophy.
Following her victory at the 2022 Geoje Jangsa Ssireum Tournament held in March, Um Hajin secured her second jangsa title of the season, marking her sixth Chrysanthemum Jangsa title in her career.
In the semifinals, Um Hajin faced her teammate Lee Semi and advanced to the finals with a 2:0 win using deulbaejigi and japchae techniques.
In the first round of the final, Um Hajin conceded the first point after being caught by Kim Dahye (Ansan City Office) with the andari technique.
However, despite being at a disadvantage with one warning, she perfectly executed the japchae technique with 7 seconds left in the overtime, winning the second round.
In the final round, she defeated Kim Dahye with a combination of baejigi and mil-eochigi techniques, completing a 2:1 comeback victory.
Kim Sunho, the governor of Gurye County, said, "Thank you for bringing honor to Gurye County through this tournament victory," and added, "We will continue to provide multifaceted support so that the athletes can focus solely on their training."
Meanwhile, Lee Semi and Shin Hajin from the Gurye County Office women's ssireum team placed third in the Chrysanthemum and Mugunghwa weight classes, respectively, at this tournament.
