[Wando＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Shin Woo-cheol, the candidate of Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do, secured a decisive victory, gaining momentum for stable county administration during the 8th local government term.

In a press release on the 2nd, the newly elected Shin said, "The result of this local election is a great victory for the people of Wando-gun," adding, "This reflects the sincere desire of the residents for the next county administration to be led correctly and stably, and it is a valuable outcome born from the residents' decision to choose an uninterrupted future for the next four years without hesitation despite all temptations."

He continued, "I will not forget the encouragement and painful criticism shared with many people while visiting 12 towns and townships during the election period, and by engraving them in my heart, I will take them as nourishment to communicate and serve with a humbler attitude and more modest dedication for the development of Wando and the happiness of its residents."

Shin expressed his intention, "During the 8th local government term, I will do my best to open a new marine era and the second Jang Bogo era together with the residents," and stated, "We will steadily push forward five major pending projects reflected in the new government's national agenda: early promotion of the second phase of the Gwangju-Wando expressway connecting Gangjin Seongjeon and Haenam Namchang, the coastal tourism road island and land connection project between Wando and Goheung, the island connection projects between Nohwa and Soan and between Nohwa Neupdo and Bogil, and the early establishment of the National Subtropical Arboretum with a national budget of 200 billion won."

As a concrete plan for this, he presented the 3+3+3 Wando Development Strategy and elaborated on three regional development plans, three welfare development plans, and three future development plans.

For regional development, the plans include ▲establishing a closer transportation network through large-scale SOC projects that will change Wando's future ▲fostering more profitable agriculture, fisheries, and livestock industries by modernizing production and processing facilities and responding to climate change ▲and accelerating regional economic recovery through hosting large-scale events.

For welfare development, the plans include ▲building a denser welfare safety net benefiting all residents ▲revitalizing regional development by expanding facilities in underdeveloped areas ▲and creating a more convenient living environment by improving daily life, sports, and transportation welfare.

For future development, the plans include ▲promoting a better marine healing industry for the affluent life of the next generation ▲establishing a more valuable marine bio-industry actively utilizing Wando's marine biological resources ▲and creating a marine tourism hub city where marine healing, forest healing, and unique local culture harmonize to open the era of 5 million wellness tourists.

Meanwhile, Shin is evaluated as a politician with communication leadership who has led residents' unity based on rich administrative experience and solid central government connections.

During the 6th and 7th local government terms, Shin thoroughly proved his qualifications as a leader who has been leading Wando-gun's administration and establishing a 100-year future plan for Wando-gun.

Moreover, throughout his 43 years of public service, starting from the fishing village guidance office, he has built his capabilities through various public service experiences at the Fisheries Agency, Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Jeollanam-do, Jindo Deputy County Governor, and Wando County Governor, and he also possesses a network positioned in key roles in central government agencies including the executive and legislative branches.

Along with this, his 'communication leadership,' demonstrated by continuously operating a mobile county governor's office and engaging in constant dialogue with residents about county administration development through the Communication and Unity Committee and the Regional Development Win-Win Council during the 6th and 7th local government terms, is also regarded as one of Shin's strengths.
