Kia's Domestic and International Sales Last Month 234,000 Units... 4.9% Decrease YoY
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] Kia announced on the 2nd that it sold 234,554 units domestically and internationally last month. This is a 4.9% decrease compared to the same period last year.
In the domestic market, sales decreased by 4.7% to 45,663 units, while overseas sales dropped by 5% to 188,891 units. Sales declined due to production disruptions caused by improper supply of vehicle semiconductor parts.
By model, the best-selling vehicle was the Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) Sportage, with 37,949 units sold domestically and internationally. The compact SUV Seltos followed with 20,813 units, and the mid-size SUV Sorento sold 17,738 units.
Looking only at the domestic market, the best-selling model was the 1-ton compact truck Bongo III, with 5,655 units sold. Passenger models sold 14,651 units, and Recreational Vehicles (RVs) sold 25,208 units domestically. Commercial vehicles totaled 5,804 units sold.
Overseas, the Sportage sold 33,407 units, followed by the Seltos with 17,950 units, and the compact sedan Rio (Pride) with 14,001 units. A company official stated, "Although uncertainties in management continue due to semiconductor parts supply disruptions, we are minimizing the impact on supply delays through flexible semiconductor allocation and adjustments to vehicle production schedules." He added, "We will increase market share and profitability by launching competitive new models and implementing solid sales strategies."
