Renault Korea Sells Total of 8,591 Units in May... "Expecting Full Recovery After June"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Renault Korea Motors announced on the 2nd that it sold a total of 8,591 units in May, including 3,728 units domestically and 4,863 units exported.
In the domestic market, Renault Korea Motors recovered more than 60% of its performance compared to the previous month, which had faced significant supply difficulties due to parts shortages. However, a full recovery is expected to be possible after June. Currently, among Renault Korea Motors' main models, the QM6 is expected to be delivered about two months after ordering, while the XM3 and SM6 are expected to be delivered within 1 to 2 months.
The coupe-style SUV XM3 led domestic sales in May with 1,907 units sold, a 93.8% increase compared to the same period last year. By engine type, the economical and practical 1.6 GTe model accounted for 1,413 units, and the TCe 260 model with a 1.3L gasoline turbo engine, offering excellent fuel efficiency and dynamic driving performance, accounted for 494 units.
The mid-size sedan SM6 showed the highest sales recovery in May, with 553 units sold, a 149.1% increase compared to the same period last year. The TCe 260 model with a 1.3L gasoline turbo engine, jointly developed with Daimler, accounted for 302 units, about 55% of total SM6 sales.
The QM6, which experienced the greatest production disruption due to parts supply difficulties, sold 1,248 units in May. The QM6 LPe, the only LPG SUV in Korea equipped with a patented LPG donut tank mounting system that ensures both space utilization and passenger safety, accounted for the majority of QM6 sales with 854 units. Renault brand models included 18 units of the Master and 2 units of the Zoe, totaling 20 units.

Exports in May recorded 4,863 units, down 14.9% year-on-year due to parts supply and shipping delays. Among the total shipment volume of 4,337 units of the XM3 (export name Renault New Arkana), the hybrid model, which has proven excellent marketability in Europe, accounted for more than 80%, or 3,481 units. Other export performances included 502 units of the QM6 (export name Renault Koleos) and 24 units of the Twizy.
