[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Samyoung ENC is showing strong performance. The spotlight is on its autopilot technology following news that a large vessel equipped with autonomous navigation technology developed by a domestic company has become the world's first to cross an ocean.

According to industry sources, on the same day, HD Hyundai's autonomous navigation specialist company Avikus announced that it successfully completed the autonomous ocean crossing of the 180,000㎥ ultra-large liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier, the Prism Courage, in collaboration with SK Shipping.
Recently, autonomous navigation technology has been gaining attention because it reduces human errors and decreases greenhouse gases and pollutants. The vessel that successfully completed the ocean crossing autonomously navigated the optimal route, improving fuel efficiency by 7% and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 5%.
