According to the Central Disease Control Headquarters on the 2nd, as of midnight, 9,898 new COVID-19 cases were added, bringing the total cumulative cases to 18,129,313.
The daily new cases fell below 10,000 for the first time in three days after recording 6,135 cases on the 30th of last month. This is a decrease of 5,899 cases compared to the previous day's 15,797 new cases.
The number of new COVID-19 deaths reported up to the previous day is 15. The total cumulative deaths stand at 24,212, with a fatality rate of 0.13%.
The number of critically ill patients currently hospitalized is 176, which is 12 fewer than the previous day. Since the 28th of last month, the number of critically ill COVID-19 patients has remained in the 100s for six consecutive days.
The nationwide critical care bed occupancy rate is 10.9%, with 9.4% in the metropolitan area and 14.4% in non-metropolitan areas. The operation rate of the single remaining life treatment center designated by the Central Accident Response Headquarters is 3.4%.
On the 1st, 11,767 new patients were added to home treatment, bringing the total number of patients currently under home treatment to 88,687. Among them, 5,032 are in the intensive management group receiving health care from medical institutions.
