[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Lotte Members announced on the 2nd that it will hold the 7th Big Data Competition. Registration for participation begins today.
The Lotte Members Big Data Competition was established to discover and nurture competitive talent in the data field. So far, four winners of the competition have joined Lotte Members. The focus is on identifying individuals who possess not only big data analysis skills but also the ability to propose data-driven business roadmaps.
This year's theme is "Development of Predictive Models Based on Customer Purchase Data and Proposal of Personalized Marketing Strategies." University and graduate students can participate individually or in teams of up to three members. Those who have graduated from university or graduate school within the last two years and are unemployed are also eligible to participate. Registration requires membership in L.Point.
Participants will have the opportunity from July 20 to August 12 to design and perform analysis tasks based on customer, transaction, store, and delivery data owned by Lotte Members, providing insights applicable to real business scenarios.
Prizes include 5 million KRW for one grand prize team, 2 million KRW for one excellence award team, and 1 million KRW each for three outstanding award teams, totaling 10 million KRW in prize money. Until next year, winners can receive a special exemption from one document screening round when applying for new or intern positions related to data at Lotte Members. Three encouragement award teams will receive 300,000 L.Points each.
The registration deadline is August 3, and the submission deadline for analysis results is August 12. After evaluation, the eight teams advancing to the finals will be announced on August 24. The finalists will present their analysis results on September 5, followed by an awards ceremony.
Meanwhile, on July 29, a pre-briefing session for participants will be live-streamed online on the official L.Point and L.Pay YouTube channels. Participants can learn detailed information about the competition process and there will be a Q&A session.
