Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to Experience Construction Sites for Developing 'Field-Oriented Construction Policies'
Visited Over 50 Construction Sites in June and July
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 2nd that all employees of the Construction Policy Bureau will participate in a one-day construction site experience to promote the establishment of field-customized construction policies.
Including the Policy Bureau Chief, all employees of the Construction Policy Bureau plan to visit more than 50 public and private construction sites nationwide, including roads, railways, and housing, from June to July. They will live and work alongside site workers for one day to hear firsthand voices from the field and actively reflect these insights in future policy formulation.
Recently, construction sites have faced various issues such as increased construction costs due to soaring building material prices, heightened public interest in construction safety, and construction delays caused by conflicts between subcontractors.
To address these field issues, this experience was organized in response to social demands that public officials directly visit sites to listen to the difficulties and requests of field stakeholders, enhance their understanding of the sites, and establish practical and effective policies that work on the ground.
Construction Policy Bureau employees plan to experience a wide range of construction sites, including public and private sectors, large and small-scale projects, and metropolitan and regional areas, to gather diverse voices from the field.
From 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., they will live alongside site workers and thoroughly experience all aspects of the construction site, from work instructions by trade to meetings with the primary contractors.
Kim Geun-ho, Director of the Construction Policy Division at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, said, "Without understanding the construction sites, there are limits to solving the issues they face. As difficulties at construction sites are increasing due to recent material shortages, we will do our best through this experience to discover necessary construction policies and alleviate the hardships of field stakeholders."
