180 Critically Ill Hospitalized Patients... 9 Deaths
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-won] The number of new COVID-19 cases, which had fallen below 10,000 the previous day, has risen back to the 10,000 range.
According to the Central Disease Control Headquarters on the 31st, as of midnight, 17,191 new COVID-19 cases were added, bringing the total cumulative cases to 18,103,638.
The daily new cases rose back to the 10,000 range just one day after recording 6,139 cases below 10,000 the previous day. Compared to the same day last week (26,341 cases), it decreased by 9,150 cases.
The number of critically ill patients hospitalized increased by 2 from the previous day to 180, remaining in the 100s for the second consecutive day. The nationwide critical patient bed occupancy rate is 13.0%, with 11.4% in the metropolitan area and 16.9% in non-metropolitan areas.
The number of new COVID-19 deaths is 9, the same as the previous day. By age group, those aged 80 and above accounted for 5 deaths, the highest number, but there was also 1 death of a child aged 9 or younger. The total cumulative deaths stand at 24,176, with a fatality rate of 0.13%.
With 15,297 new patients added to home treatment the previous day, the total number of patients currently under home treatment is 97,910. Among them, 5,664 are in the intensive management group receiving health care from medical institutions.
