‘Match Queen’ Ji Eun-hee (36, Hanwha Q CELLS) jumped 28 spots in the weekly women's golf world rankings officially announced on the morning of the 31st (Korean time). She leveraged her victory at the Bank of Hope Match Play (total prize money $1.5 million) on the LPGA Tour, which concluded the day before at Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA (par 72, 6,777 yards). This is her first win in 3 years and 4 months since the Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions in January 2019.
Ji Eun-hee defeated Andrea Lee (USA) by 4 holes in the semifinals and Ayaka Furue (Japan) by 3 holes in the finals. She also set a new record as the oldest Korean player to win (36 years and 17 days). Most importantly, she secured a ticket to the ‘War of Money’ US Women's Open (total prize money $10 million), which opens on the night of the 2nd of next month. She expressed her joy, saying, "I thought I wouldn't be able to participate this year, so I'm happy to play," and added, "I hope the good energy from this week continues into next week."
