'Music Bank Lim Young Woong 0 Point Controversy'... Police Investigate Score Manipulation
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] Singer Lim Young-woong is under police investigation following a complaint alleging score manipulation as the reason he did not secure first place on KBS music program 'Music Bank' recently.
On the 28th, the Seoul Yeongdeungpo Police Station announced that it received such a complaint through the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission's online petition system and has initiated a preliminary investigation before formal indictment.
The complainant raised the possibility of manipulation after Lim Young-woong, who was nominated for first place alongside girl group Le Sserafim on the 13th of this month, received zero points in the broadcast frequency category, one of the scoring components, causing him to fall behind in the total score.
The 'Music Bank' ranking is determined by the total score combining digital music (60%), broadcast frequency (20%), viewer preference (10%), album sales (5%), and social media (5%).
At the time, KBS responded to the controversy by explaining that "during the ranking calculation period from the 2nd to the 8th, Lim Young-woong's 'Dasi Mannal Su Isseulkka' was not broadcast on KBS TV, radio, or digital content."
