Yoon Hyung-sun Appeals for Support, "Leadership Promises Full Support for Gyeyang"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Hyun-ji] On the 28th, Lee Jun-seok, the leader of the People Power Party, cast an early vote in Gyeyang-gu, Incheon, showing support for Yoon Hyung-sun, the People Power Party candidate competing against Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party candidate, in the Gyeyang by-election.
At around 10 a.m. that day, Lee appeared together with candidate Yoon at the early voting site set up at the Gyesan 2-dong Administrative Welfare Center in Gyeyang-gu, Incheon. After voting, he told reporters, “I understand there is a lot of interest in how residents will judge the candidacy of Lee Jae-myung, who has no justification for running in this election,” adding, “I came to Gyeyang to cast my vote to lend even a little support to candidate Yoon, who is fighting against the heavyweight Lee Jae-myung.”
He also criticized Lee’s campaign promises. Regarding Lee’s pledge to relocate Gimpo Airport, he said, “This was something the Democratic Party itself abandoned after briefly bringing it up during the presidential election,” and added, “During the presidential election, Lee stated that Gimpo International Airport is the core of Gangseo-gu, Seoul, and expressed his intention to maintain it. Changing his position in less than three months is a careless and incoherent promise.” The day before, Lee had proposed relocating Gimpo Airport to develop the western metropolitan area, including Gyeyang in Incheon, Gimpo in Gyeonggi Province, and Gangseo in Seoul.
Regarding the record-high early voting rate in the local elections, he said, “It is regrettable that it falls short of the last presidential election,” but added, “Thanks to our party’s efforts over the past year, skepticism about early voting has lessened even among conservatives, and many are voting. If anyone has not yet participated, please do so immediately to support the Yoon Seok-yeol administration.”

Candidate Yoon also emphasized, “The local voters in Gyeyang understand well that this election is not just between Yoon Hyung-sun and Lee Jae-myung, but a contest to protect Gyeyang’s pride and to save the Republic of Korea,” and stressed, “Including leader Lee, the party leadership is paying great attention to Gyeyang, and floor leader Kwon Seong-dong and other leaders have said they will provide full support to Gyeyang.”
