Busan Early Voting Second Day 9 AM 10.72%... 2.16%p Increase Compared to Last Local Election
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jucheol In] As of 9 a.m., the cumulative early voting rate in the Busan area for the 8th nationwide simultaneous local elections was recorded at 10.72%.
According to the National Election Commission, from 6 a.m. the previous day to 9 a.m. on the day, out of 2,916,832 eligible voters in Busan, 312,699 cast their precious votes, resulting in an early voting rate of 10.72%.
This figure is 1.09 percentage points lower than the national average of 11.81%, ranking fourth lowest nationwide, but about 2.16 percentage points higher than Busan's early voting rate of 8.56% in the 2018 local elections.
Among Busan’s 16 districts and counties, Dong-gu had the highest rate at 13.97%, followed by Jung-gu at 13.22%, Yeongdo-gu at 13.21%, Seo-gu at 12.51%, and Geumjeong-gu at 12.51%. The area with the lowest turnout was Gangseo-gu, recording 8.02%.
Early voting is possible anywhere if voters bring a photo ID issued by a public institution, such as a resident registration card or youth ID (including mobile IDs). General voters can vote from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
