The Korea CEO Award is the most prestigious domestic award given to business leaders who have led the country's economic development in that year.
The Korea Management Association stated, "Chairman Cho was selected as the recipient for his achievements in expanding the overwhelming lead of global No.1 products such as spandex and tire cords, and securing a foundation for future growth through investments in new businesses."
At the award ceremony, Chairman Cho said, "I am very honored and deeply moved to receive this award as the second generation, following my most respected business leader, my father, Honorary Chairman Cho Seok-rae, who received the Korea CEO Award in 1994. I believe this is the result of the efforts of our executives and employees. I will do my best to become an even greater business leader."
In the discussion held after the ceremony, Chairman Cho explained that the secret to Hyosung's growth into a global company lies in its technology and quality-centered management DNA, such as establishing the country's first private technology research institute in 1971.
He added, "Eighty percent of our executives and employees are engineers, and it is Hyosung's culture to talk about technology and discuss it every day. We will continue to preserve and develop this culture and maintain an environment that supports it."
