View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Daewoong Pharmaceutical announced on the 27th that it will expand its social contribution program 'Chamjimayo,' which improves the medical environment for people with developmental disabilities, to Indonesia starting this year.
Chamjimayo is a social contribution program that educates and supports 'slow learners,' including people with developmental disabilities, to express their symptoms independently when they are ill and receive necessary medical services. It was launched in 2019 through a partnership between Daewoong Pharmaceutical and the non-profit organization Peach Market.
Recently, an AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) picture book was produced to help slow learners accurately express their symptoms to medical staff and caregivers. This book has been distributed free of charge to 583 hospitals, clinics, special schools, and welfare centers nationwide.
Based on domestic cases, Daewoong Pharmaceutical plans to raise awareness of the issues faced by people with developmental disabilities in Indonesia who are in medical blind spots and develop AAC picture books tailored to the local language and culture.

A Daewoong Pharmaceutical official said, "We felt great fulfillment seeing the program, which started to help people who have difficulty expressing their illness, such as slow learners, actively implemented in actual emergency situations. We hope that Chamjimayo will successfully take root in Indonesia as well, helping people with developmental disabilities in medical blind spots and contributing to improving their quality of life."
