Warning to Prevent Livestock Deaths from Heatwaves on Farms
[Yeongam=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-kyung] Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do, has prioritized supplying vitamins, minerals, and other medicines to small-scale livestock farms in preparation for the scorching summer heat.
In response to the increase in the number and intensity of heatwave days during summer due to climate change, 18,382 packs of heat stress relievers to prevent livestock vulnerable to heatwaves from dying were supplied to 407 farms.
Additionally, 52,600 kg of comprehensive nutritional blocks with pest control functions against flies, mites, and other pests were supplied to 969 farms to minimize livestock damage.
A Yeongam-gun official urged regular disinfection for livestock hygiene management during the hot season and restricted access of outsiders and vehicles to livestock barns, anticipating more heatwave days this year compared to the previous year.
