Jangseong-gun 'Hwangryonggang Gildongmu Flower Road Festival' Peaks This Weekend
[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] Visits to the Gildongmu Flower Road Festival taking place at Hwangryonggang in Jangseong, Jeonnam, are expected to peak this weekend.
According to the county on the 26th, the concept of the Hwangryonggang Gildongmu Flower Road Festival is ‘So-hwak-haeng’ (small but certain happiness).
As the festival is held for the first time in three years, coinciding with the start of daily life recovery, the county has omitted the opening and closing ceremonies, which usually attract large crowds, and is operating programs focused on busking, exhibitions, and experiential events.
Although the scale of the festival has been simplified, more than one billion spring flowers such as rapeseed flowers, poppies, and cornflowers have bloomed abundantly.
The Point Garden, a popular spot for ‘life shots,’ has been intricately decorated in various places, and the Hwangryonggang waterfall, created earlier this year, offers a unique attraction.
Various rides, food trucks, and experience booths set up on the site of the old public stadium have also received high praise from visitors.
The Hwangryonggang Yellow Flower Market, where Jangseong’s agricultural specialties can be purchased at reasonable prices through direct transactions with farmers, is also gaining popularity.
Thanks to the charming yet substantial festival composition, starting with about 11,000 visitors on the opening day, the 20th, 70,000 people visited Hwangryonggang over the weekend alone.
Even on weekdays, steady footsteps continue to enjoy the night view of Hwangryonggang, bringing the cumulative number of visitors close to 100,000 as of the 25th.
A county official said, “We expect many visitors as the spring flowers at Hwangryonggang are expected to reach their peak this coming weekend,” adding, “We will do our best to maintain a safe and clean environment until the end.”
