Gochang County Health Center Implements 'Mobile Healthcare Project'

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeonbuk Gochang-gun Public Health Center is attracting attention by implementing the ‘Mobile Healthcare Project,’ which manages health anytime and anywhere through a mobile app.

According to Gochang-gun Public Health Center on the 23rd, the Mobile Healthcare Project is a mobile-based health service utilizing the health promotion projects of the public health center and ICT technology, providing customized health management services for six months (June to November) to individuals with health risk factors.

Eligible participants are residents of Gochang-gun aged 19 or older who have one or more health risk factors (blood pressure, fasting blood glucose, waist circumference, triglycerides, HDL cholesterol).

However, patients with diseases and those taking medication are excluded from the program.

A specialized team at the public health center (doctors, coordinators, nurses, nutritionists, exercise specialists) provides various information such as personalized physical activity management and dietary habit management through a mobile app linked to a smartwatch-type activity tracker.

Through a total of three tests (blood tests, body measurements, and health consultations) conducted initially, mid-term, and finally, the results are compared to check whether the participant’s behavior has improved, helping to manage their health.

Yoo Byung-su, director of Gochang-gun Public Health Center, said, “There is an advantage in receiving specialized health management services non-face-to-face and becoming aware of the importance of self-health management,” adding, “We hope this will contribute to reducing the prevalence of chronic diseases among local residents and extending healthy life expectancy.”
