People Power Party Confirms US-Korea Summit as Both Nations' Commitment to Advancing a 'Universal Value Alliance'
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] The People Power Party stated on the 21st that it will "actively support the ‘Global Comprehensive Strategic Alliance’" in relation to the joint statement between President Yoon Seok-yeol and U.S. President Joe Biden.
Kim Hyung-dong, spokesperson for the People Power Party’s Central Election Committee, said, "President Yoon and President Biden held a summit today and announced a joint statement," adding, "In the joint statement, South Korea and the United States strengthened and united around shared values of common politics, economy, security, and bonds between the peoples of both countries."
Spokesperson Kim said, "The joint statement can be seen as a resolution by both South Korea and the U.S. to advance the Korea-U.S. alliance from a traditional ‘security alliance’ to a future-oriented ‘economic alliance,’ and further to a ‘universal value alliance’ based on liberal democracy and human rights," and added, "In the ‘security sector,’ the two leaders reaffirmed their shared goal of complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula."
Regarding North Korea, he introduced, "(The two leaders) emphasized that the door for dialogue remains open for peaceful and diplomatic resolution with North Korea.
