Delivery Rider Arrested for Fleeing After Hitting Police Officer During Helmet Violation Crackdown
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] A delivery driver who hit a police officer enforcing traffic laws and fled the scene was apprehended by the police.
The Geumcheon Police Station in Seoul announced on the 21st that they have booked a man in his 20s, delivery driver A, on charges of special obstruction of official duties causing injury.
According to the police, A is accused of hitting traffic officer B's leg with his motorcycle and knocking him down at an intersection in Siheung-dong, Geumcheon-gu, around 8:20 a.m. the previous day, then fleeing the scene. During the incident, Officer B sustained abrasions on his leg and hand.
At the time, A was riding without a helmet and running a red light. He was caught seven minutes after hitting Officer B and fleeing.
