At the proclamation ceremony held the previous day (16th), more than 30 company officials, including Park Doo-sun, President of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, and Jeong Sang-heon, Chairman of the Labor Union Branch, attended and read a labor-management declaration for practicing safety management.
The declaration included a commitment for labor and management to cooperate mutually to pursue safety management and prevent serious accidents.
In particular, labor and management jointly declared the exercise of workers' right to stop work during operations according to Article 52 of the Industrial Safety and Health Act.
The right to stop work allows workers to halt operations and evacuate when there is an imminent danger of an industrial accident, report immediately to supervisors after stopping work, and proceed only after corrective measures have been taken.
President Park stated, "Taking this proclamation ceremony as an opportunity, labor and management recognize that they are partners in safety and will work closely together to do their best to create a zero-accident workplace."
Chairman Jeong said, "Safety is the company's top management goal, and labor and management should put their heads together and work with shared interest to establish a happy workplace and strengthen safety awareness among all employees."
