Hankook Tire Strengthens Partnership with Vehicle Management Service Company 'Ubifirst Daewon'
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Hankook Tire & Technology announced on the 17th that it will strengthen its strategic partnership with vehicle management service company UbiFirst Daewon.
UbiFirst Daewon is a leading domestic vehicle management service company operating the telematics service "UbiCan," which has a subscription base of 100,000 vehicles. Telematics service is a next-generation vehicle wireless internet service that combines wireless communication and GPS technology, providing information such as vehicle status, malfunction status, location, and operations to users and managers via wireless communication.
Hankook Tire and UbiFirst Daewon signed a two-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) starting in 2020 and conducted tests on vehicle and tire management services. They analyzed commercial vehicle driving information data and developed a big data-based tire management solution.
Tire management service is a system that monitors tire conditions in real time by attaching sensors to tires and integrates vehicle operation data with the management system for comprehensive analysis. Based on detailed driving habit analysis, it can provide drivers with cost-saving solutions such as fuel and consumables.
Through this, they can analyze vehicle driving data by region, build tire mileage prediction models based on driving route severity and driver braking patterns, and derive vehicle and tire management improvement solutions from a total cost of ownership perspective.
In particular, the two companies analyzed real vehicle driving data through commercial vehicle tire management service tests conducted with domestic charter bus companies from the second half of 2020 until last year. They quantified the impact of frequent braking and idling driving habits on fuel efficiency and tire lifespan. They also quantitatively analyzed that improving driving habits and managing tire air pressure help reduce fuel consumption and extend tire life.

With this strengthened strategic partnership, Hankook Tire and UbiFirst Daewon plan to expand testing to bus companies under various driving conditions, build more sophisticated tire mileage prediction models, and gradually introduce differentiated management service models. In addition, based on data collected not only from telematics driving data but also from tire sensors, they plan to provide high-quality services for commercial vehicle customers, such as fuel efficiency improvement and various alerts for safe driving, leading the market.
