'Geudaega Joguk' Funding Achieves 5221%, 2.6 Billion Won Raised
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] The documentary film "You Are Jo Guk," which depicts the conflict surrounding the appointment of former Minister of Justice Jo Guk, has achieved 5221% of its crowdfunding goal.
On the 16th, the team behind the film "You Are Jo Guk" announced, "From April 25 to May 15, over 21 days, 51,794 people participated in the crowdfunding on the platform Tumblbug, raising 2,610,911,000 KRW." This is the highest record ever on the platform.
In a video message, Jo Guk said, "I was deeply moved by the overwhelming support. Thank you. There was intense social conflict during the so-called Jo Guk incident, and even after a long time passed, I wondered why there was such support. I want to meet and talk with many people."
Supporters will receive rewards based on their contributions, including invitations to the premiere of "You Are Jo Guk" held in eight cities: Seoul, Incheon, Daejeon, Daegu, Busan, Gwangju, Ulsan, and Jeju, as well as DVDs and special photobooks. After the theatrical release, supporters’ names will be credited in the VOD service and the digital distribution version of the DVD. The funds will be used for venue rental fees for the premiere, DVD production costs, photobook production costs, digital distribution master work, and advertising expenses.
