[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] A man in his 60s who rode an electric scooter in a state of intoxication exceeding the license cancellation threshold was sentenced to a fine.
Judge Jeon Beom-sik of the Seoul Southern District Court Criminal Division 8 sentenced Mr. A, a man in his 60s who was tried on charges of drunk driving and driving without a license in violation of the Road Traffic Act, to a fine of 10 million won.
Mr. A was prosecuted for riding an electric scooter on a road near Garibong Market in Guro-gu, Seoul, for over 1 km from Guro 2-dong Community Center in a state of intoxication with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.296% last November.

The court stated the sentencing reason, "He drove an electric scooter while intoxicated without a license," and "Considering that he was so intoxicated at the time of the crackdown that communication was impossible, the risk was considerable."
