COVID-19 New Cases 32,451... Over 30,000 for Two Consecutive Days (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] The number of new daily COVID-19 cases remained in the 30,000 range for the second consecutive day. The number of critically ill patients and deaths slightly decreased.
According to the Central Disease Control Headquarters on the 13th, as of midnight, 32,451 new cases were added, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 17,727,086. This is 3,455 fewer than the previous day (35,906).
The daily new cases have remained below 50,000 for ten consecutive days since recording 51,119 on the 3rd. However, this is 5,737 more than a week ago on the 6th (26,714).
The number of critically ill patients hospitalized slightly decreased to 347 from 354 the previous day. The nationwide critical care bed occupancy rate is 17.8%. The number of deaths was 52, down from 63 the previous day. The cumulative death toll stands at 23,606, with a fatality rate of 0.13%.
With 32,781 new patients added to home treatment the previous day, the current number of patients under home care is 235,442. Among them, 16,660 are in the intensive management group receiving health care from medical institutions.

The COVID-19 vaccination rates are 87.8% for the first dose, 86.8% for the second dose, and 64.7% for the third dose. The fourth dose vaccination rate, targeting those aged 60 and over and immunocompromised individuals, is 6.4%. Among seniors aged 60 and above, 23.0% have completed the fourth dose. The first dose vaccination rate for children aged 5 to 11 is 1.3%.
