37,205 New COVID-19 Cases Nationwide by 9 PM... 5,246 Fewer Than Yesterday
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] As the COVID-19 outbreak continues to decline, the number of new confirmed cases reached the 30,000 range by 9 PM on the 11th.
According to Seoul City and other local governments, from midnight to 9 PM on the same day, 37,205 people nationwide in 17 cities and provinces were confirmed positive for COVID-19. This is the first time in 14 weeks since February 2nd (17,920 cases) that the number recorded at the same time on a Wednesday was below 40,000.
This is 5,246 fewer than the 42,451 cases recorded at the same time the previous day, and 4,053 fewer than the 41,258 cases recorded at the same time a week ago on the 4th. Compared to two weeks ago on the 27th of last month (56,015 cases), it is 18,810 fewer. Since there is still time until midnight when the count closes, the number of new confirmed cases to be announced on the 12th is expected to increase further.
New confirmed cases were 17,616 (47.3%) in the metropolitan area and 19,589 (52.7%) in non-metropolitan areas. By region, Gyeonggi had 10,302 cases, Seoul 5,695, Gyeongbuk 2,619, Gyeongnam 2,259, Daegu 1,858, Incheon 1,619, Chungnam 1,601, Jeonnam 1,486, Jeonbuk 1,470, Chungbuk 1,397, Gangwon 1,323, Daejeon 1,283, Busan 1,277, Gwangju 1,273, Ulsan 965, Jeju 447, and Sejong 331.
