People Power Party's Kim Young-sun Nominated for Changwon Chang By-election ... Anticipated Face-off with Candidate Kim Ji-soo
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The People Power Party's Nomination Management Committee selected former lawmaker Kim Young-sun as the candidate for the by-election for the National Assembly member of Uichang-gu, Changwon-si, Gyeongnam, on the 10th.
Candidate Kim Young-sun will face former Gyeongnam Provincial Council Chairman Kim Ji-soo of the Democratic Party of Korea for the seat vacated by former National Assembly member Park Wan-soo, who ran as a candidate for Gyeongnam governor.
Both ruling and opposition parties have nominated female candidates, drawing attention to whether the first female National Assembly member in the Gyeongnam electoral district will be elected.
Yoon Sang-hyun, chairman of the nomination committee, stated that the selection was based on three nomination principles: excluding those who lost in the mayor/governor primaries including the relevant electoral district, discovering female talents, and selecting candidates who can contribute to the presidential election victory and work for the success of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration.
