View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, who is set to acquire the social networking service (SNS) Twitter, recently agreed to comply with the digital content regulatory measures established by the European Union (EU), according to reports by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) and others on the 9th (local time).
According to the reports, Thierry Breton, EU Commissioner for Internal Market, posted a video on his Twitter account showing his meeting with Musk during his visit to Texas, USA, on the same day. In the video, Musk said, "In many ways, I think we share the same views," and added, "If my company can do anything that benefits Europe, I want to do it."
This video was released just two weeks after Commissioner Breton stated in an interview on the 26th of last month, "Whether it is automobiles or social media, any company operating within Europe must comply with our regulations regardless of their shareholding." Musk’s indication that he would focus on freedom of expression and ease content regulations upon acquiring Twitter is interpreted as emphasizing compliance from the EU’s perspective, which has been issuing successive regulations on big tech companies.
Earlier, the EU agreed last month with authorities and members of parliament on the enactment of the Digital Services Act (DSA). According to the DSA, digital platforms must promptly remove content related to illegal activities such as biased statements against specific races, genders, or religions, terrorist content, illegal discriminatory content, and child sexual abuse content as soon as they recognize them. This legislation will be enforced once it receives approval from all 27 EU member states and the European Parliament.

Regarding this, Commissioner Breton said in the video, "I am pleased to be able to explain (the DSA to Musk)" and noted that Musk seems to understand the new regulations well. Musk replied to Breton’s tweet posting the video, saying, "It was a good meeting. We are on the same page."
