Song Sang-geun, the current Director of the Marine Policy Office at the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, who has been nominated as the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries under the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, visited the press room on the afternoon of the 9th to deliver a greeting.

On the same day, during his visit to the MOF press room in the afternoon, Song said, "Having worked as the Director of the Marine Policy Office for over a year, I have felt strong concerns from our fisheries and fishing communities regarding offshore wind power, the discharge of radioactive contaminated water from Japan's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP)."
He added, "In that process, we need to figure out how to stably maintain the fisheries industry itself and address current issues to set the overall direction of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries. I will do my best to support the Minister well and to make the organization one that is loved by the public."
Earlier that day, President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol made personnel appointments for vice ministers of ministries, appointing Director Song as the Vice Minister of the MOF.
Song is a seasoned bureaucrat who has held key positions in the marine and fisheries sectors for nearly 30 years. Born in 1968, he graduated from Jinju Dongmyeong High School in Gyeongnam and Seoul National University with a degree in Economics. After passing the 36th Administrative Examination, he began his public service career at the Korea Maritime and Port Administration.
He has served as Director of the Private Investment Planning Division, Director of the Port Logistics Planning Division, Director of Marine Environment Policy, and Director of Marine Policy at the MOF. During the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs era, he held positions such as Director of Regional Development Support Division and Director of Industrial Location Policy Division. Additionally, from 2013 to 2014, he served as Administrative Officer for Marine and Fisheries Affairs at the Presidential Secretariat.
Having held key positions related to marine and fisheries, he is recognized for his professional expertise, political acumen, and strong drive.
