Hanwha Hotels & Resorts Launches Campaign with UNICEF Korea Committee
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Hanwha Hotels & Resorts is conducting the 'Change for Children' campaign in collaboration with the UNICEF Korea Committee as part of donations for underprivileged children worldwide.
This year-long campaign carries the meaning of changing and acting for children. Hanwha Hotels & Resorts plans to donate $100,000 (approximately 120 million KRW) to the UNICEF Korea Committee, and customers visiting the hotels and resorts can also participate through donation boxes installed in the lobbies. With the help of Choi Siwon, UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Goodwill Ambassador, warm support messages will be delivered to about 4 million room guests during the campaign.
Hanwha Hotels & Resorts has been conducting various social contribution activities for students in difficult environments. In particular, the 'Character Table' campaign, carried out with child welfare centers since 2016, is well-known. This campaign aims to build good character in children through warm meals, with about 1,000 children participating. Additionally, the 'Youth Career Workshop,' where Hanwha Hotels & Resorts employees directly provide career planning and special lectures to 1,500 middle school students nationwide, has also gained great popularity.
Choi Siwon, UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Goodwill Ambassador who participated as a talent donor, said, "I readily joined because this campaign carries the message that if we come together, children can engage in brighter and healthier activities. I hope this campaign, launched in May, the month of family, will provide some support to underprivileged children."
Lee Ki-chul, Secretary General of the UNICEF Korea Committee, stated, "Despite the difficulties faced by the global travel industry due to COVID-19, Hanwha Hotels & Resorts promised activities for children in difficult environments last December," and added, "We appreciate Hanwha Hotels & Resorts' sincere efforts for children and the UNICEF Korea Committee will actively cooperate."
