Earlier, Kang was found in cardiac arrest by firefighters who responded to a report from her family after she complained of pain at her home in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, around 5:48 p.m. the previous day. She was transported to a nearby hospital and was diagnosed with a cerebral hemorrhage.
Kang Soo-yeon debuted as a child actress at the age of 4 and made a mark in the history of popular cinema by winning the Best Actress award at the Venice International Film Festival in 1987 for the film "The Surrogate Woman" and the Best Actress award at the Moscow International Film Festival in 1989 for "Come Come Come Upward".
