Jeonnam Fire Department Initiates 'Special Alert Duty' Ahead of Buddha's Birthday
From 6 PM on the 7th to 9 AM on the 9th, 15,082 personnel mobilized
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters announced on the 6th that it will enter special alert duty from 6 PM on the 7th to 9 AM on the 9th ahead of Buddha's Birthday.
This special alert duty was implemented to prevent fires during the Buddha's Birthday celebrations and to proactively respond to various disasters. A total of 15,082 personnel including firefighters and 723 firefighting equipment units will be mobilized.
Fire prevention patrols will be conducted twice daily at 143 temples and fire-prone areas to remove fire risk factors in advance, and firefighting forces will be forward-deployed to 33 major traditional temples.
Additionally, fire stations will switch to an emergency duty system, and under the leadership of fire station chiefs, on-site response and situation management will be strengthened to establish a rapid initial response posture and fully respond to large-scale fires.
A Jeonnam Fire official said, "With the recent lifting of social distancing, it is expected that many people will visit temples," and urged, "Please exercise special caution when handling fire sources such as candles, electricity, and gas during the Buddha's Birthday celebrations."
