Mujugun Launches Shopping Basket Rental Service Starting This Month
Purchase a Shopping Basket for 2,000 Won at Four Businesses Including Pulmart... Return After Use
[Muju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hanho] Muju-gun announced on the 6th that it will implement a reusable shopping bag rental project to respond to climate change through carbon neutrality.
The carbon-neutral shopping bag rental project involves four locations (including branches) participating, such as Muju Nonghyup, a large supermarket in the area, Gucheon-dong Nonghyup, Mujinjang Livestock Cooperative, and Pulmart.
Consumers can rent shopping bags at these stores by paying a deposit of 2,000 won, and after use, they can return the bags to the store to get the deposit refunded.
By residents renting and using shopping bags at supermarkets, the use of disposable plastic bags and paper box tape will be eradicated, leading to practical effects of carbon neutrality in daily life.
Earlier, in February, Muju-gun signed an agreement to promote the '2050 Carbon Neutrality Achievement Shopping Bag Rental Pilot Project' with representatives from Gucheon-dong Nonghyup (Representative Ang Seungwook), Mujinjang Livestock Cooperative (Jung Hoejun), Muju Nonghyup (Gwak Dongyeol), and Pulmart (Lee Cheolhee), promising to implement the rental project.
Meanwhile, Muju-gun has been actively promoting low-carbon reduction campaigns and encouraging low-carbon green growth activities by residents and private organizations through the 'Muju-gun Low-Carbon Green Growth Basic Ordinance Enactment (November 1, 2010)' and other campaigns.
