Seoul Museum of History Hosts 'Museum Saturday Concert' with Expert Commentary
Opening Concert "Joy of Spring" Held in Museum Lobby on the 7th
Four Sessions Held at 2 PM on the First Saturday of Each Month in May-June and November-December
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Museum of History will lower the barrier to classical music with commentary from top musicians and experts by holding its first Museum Saturday Concert at 2 p.m. on the 7th in the museum lobby.
The concert titled "Joy of Spring" will feature commentary by Professor Seo Hye-yeon (Department of Vocal Music, Seoul National University) and performances by prominent domestic musicians including Lim Kyung-won (cello), Kwak Yeon-hee (soprano), Kim Rae-ju (tenor), Kim Kang-tae (piano), and piano accompanists Son Kyung-joo and Go Seung-hee. The program will open with high-quality vocal pieces such as "Majung" and "First Love," as well as classical performances by Chopin and Liszt.
Since its inception in 2015, the Saturday Concert has become a signature cultural performance of the museum, designed to provide citizens with access to culture and arts. Opera singer Professor Seo Hye-yeon (Department of Vocal Music, Seoul National University) plans and provides commentary for the concerts, inviting top-tier domestic musicians to captivate audiences with high-quality performances.
The Seoul Museum of History plans a total of four concerts on the first Saturdays of May to June and November to December this year, starting with the first performance "Joy of Spring" in May. The museum will present a variety of carefully prepared programs including not only classical music but also Korean traditional music and opera to engage citizens. All performances are free of charge, and anyone can attend under compliance with basic quarantine rules such as indoor mask-wearing following the government's lifting of social distancing measures.
