Yeonggwang-gun to Launch 'Tourist Information Chatbot Service' Starting from the 9th

[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 4th that it will launch the ‘Tourism Information Automatic Guide Chatbot’ service from the 9th, which can provide tourism information guidance to tourists at all times.

The chatbot is a compound word of chatting and robot, referring to an AI and scenario-based automatic conversation messenger.

As non-face-to-face promotional methods have recently become more important, the county has been dedicated to developing a tourism chatbot with high user demand since February.

The chatbot can be accessed by searching for the ‘Yeonggwang-gun Tourism Guide’ channel on KakaoTalk and adding it as a friend, or through the Yeonggwang-gun Culture and Tourism website.

Also, by selecting the relevant inquiry or simply typing it into the chat window, users can instantly receive various tourism information such as major tourist attractions, festivals and events, food and specialties, accommodation, and transportation.

Various additional services related to tourism, such as smart tourist maps, stamp tours, cultural interpreter applications, and tourism guidebook requests, can also be linked and used.

The county plans to continuously update tourist information according to tourist demand to improve usage efficiency and utilize data extracted from monthly analysis of tourist usage patterns to understand tourism demand and establish mid- to long-term tourism development plans.

A county official said, “With the introduction of the chatbot service that enables 24/7 tourism guidance 365 days a year, many tourists will be able to visit the county more conveniently,” adding, “The increased convenience is expected to lead to a synergy effect in attracting tourists and greatly help the recovery of the stagnant local tourism industry.”
