Gochang-gun Promotes 'Major Agricultural Products Price Stabilization Support Project'

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk, is promoting the ‘Jeonbuk Major Agricultural Products Price Stabilization Support Project’ to respond to price instability of agricultural products caused by climate change and regional concentration of items, and to increase farm income.

According to the county on the 4th, the ‘Major Agricultural Products Price Stabilization Support Project’ sets a ‘reference price’ for agricultural products with high price volatility and supports part of the difference (within 90%) when the ‘market price’ falls below the ‘reference price.’

Also, if farmers who have committed to shipment under this project apply for and implement market isolation, part of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs’ standard unit price for item-specific local disposal compensation (within 90%) will be supported.

The county is promoting the project targeting five items (garlic, dried red pepper, ginger, open-field potatoes, and green onions).

In particular, applications and registrations for dried red pepper, ginger, and open-field potatoes are being promoted until the end of this month.

Eligible applicants are farmers who have their address in the county, directly produce agricultural products on farmland within the jurisdiction, and ship through integrated marketing specialized organizations or local agricultural cooperatives.

The applicable area for application is between 1,000㎡ and 10,000㎡ per item.

Farmers wishing to participate can apply by visiting the industrial economy team of the eup/myeon office where the farmland is located after signing a shipment agreement with Gochang-gun Nonghyup Cooperative Joint Business Corporation and local agricultural cooperatives.

Park Seonggi, head of the Rural Food Division of the county, said, “The Jeonbuk Major Agricultural Products Price Stabilization Support Project is a project that supports farmers to focus on farming with peace of mind despite price instability of agricultural products,” and added, “We hope many farms in the jurisdiction apply and receive benefits.”
