Sonid Signs MOU with Hurim Robot... "Diversifying Advanced Businesses Including 3D Inspection Robot Development"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] SonyD, a KOSDAQ-listed company, announced on the 4th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Hurim Robot to diversify advanced businesses such as inspection robots and smart logistics.
Starting from this MOU, SonyD and Hurim Robot plan to jointly pursue various business areas including ▲development of three-dimensional inspection robots equipped with vision inspection systems ▲development of smart logistics systems based on autonomous mobile robots ▲business expansion through sharing networks of key customers in China and other major markets.
SonyD aims to further advance its smart logistics business by integrating Internet of Things (IoT) total solutions with autonomous mobile robot systems, and to realize future growth businesses by strengthening existing business competitiveness, such as developing 3D vision solutions through its subsidiary F Display.
The strategy is to create differentiated competitiveness by combining SonyD’s global logistics network and manufacturing technology competitiveness such as IoT technologies including NFC/RFID and vision inspection systems with Hurim Robot’s industrial robot technology know-how and system solutions.
Choi Simyeong, CEO of SonyD, stated, "SonyD possesses RFID production technology, a core competency of IoT systems, and has secured display material supply and inspection equipment production capabilities through its subsidiary F Display, enabling various business expansions based on robot convergence technology. Through joint business promotion by integrating Hurim Robot’s robotics technology, we plan to explore new advanced business market opportunities such as three-dimensional inspection robots."
The company explained that SonyD’s existing global network, which is forming a core customer network centered on major domestic and international large corporations in smart logistics and three-dimensional inspection robot system development joint businesses, can be a particular strength in pioneering new business markets.

SonyD is the only company in Korea to have established an integrated production system from tag antenna design to final labeling work, centered on IoT technologies such as RFID and NFC. Hurim Robot, which is pursuing joint business with SonyD, operates its main business in producing transfer robots for wafer or panel handling in display and semiconductor processes, along with Cartesian coordinate robots and SCARA robots.
