The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA) announced that on this day, a meeting was held with heads of 30 regional headquarters, local headquarters, and branches nationwide to discuss measures to reduce industrial accidents.
Although the number of industrial accident deaths in the first quarter of this year showed a slight decrease compared to the same period last year, it was found that fatal accidents due to violations of safety and health obligations are still occurring.
The agency held this inspection meeting to achieve a more dramatic reduction in fatal accidents.
To further enhance the effectiveness of industrial accident prevention projects, presentations and feedback were conducted on the agency’s key projects such as patrol field inspections and the establishment of safety and health management systems, together with frontline institutions including six regional headquarters nationwide.
KOSHA is focusing on analyzing the effectiveness of industrial accident prevention projects by synthesizing the main presentations from frontline institutions and opinions from the field, and preparing measures to strengthen field operability. Through this, it plans to support the proper implementation of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act in the field.
