Floor leader Kwon Seong-dong and former floor leader Kim Ki-hyun will serve as co-chairs to oversee the election. Party leader Lee Jun-seok is known to plan to focus on local campaigns.
On the 2nd, Lee said at the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly, "We are forming an election committee," adding, "We have appointed Floor Leader Kwon and former Floor Leader Kim as co-chairs to lead this local election committee."
He stated, "Since I will naturally need to engage intensively in local support activities, I expect the two co-chairs to oversee policy and strategy centrally, and I ask them to take on this responsibility. Of course, as the standing election committee chair, I will intermittently attend meetings to provide input," he declared.
