[Profile] Choi Young-beom Appointed as Chief Public Relations Officer... Experienced as Both Journalist and Businessman
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Choi Young-beom, Vice President of Hyosung Group (former SBS News Headquarters Director), was appointed as the Chief Public Relations Secretary of the Presidential Office under the new Yoon Suk-yeol administration on the 1st.
Born in 1960, Vice President Choi graduated from Sungkyunkwan University with a degree in law. He joined Dong-A Ilbo as a social affairs reporter in 1985 and became an original member of SBS in 1991, serving for over 30 years as Political Affairs Chief, News Director, and News Headquarters Director.
He has been widely active in the newspaper and broadcasting industry, serving as Vice Chairman of the Korea Newspaper and Broadcasting Editors Association, a fund director of the association, and an executive committee member of the Gwankhun Club. Since 2018, he has been Vice President of the Communications Office at Hyosung Group. His experience as both a journalist and a business executive is cited as the background for this appointment.
Jang Je-won, Chief Secretary to the President-elect, said in the appointment announcement, "He is a person equipped with expertise and field experience accumulated in the media industry, as well as capabilities in overseeing corporate CI establishment and public relations communication." He added, "We expect him to demonstrate active communication skills with domestic and international media and the public based on his accumulated experience."
