President Yoon's Office Appoints Former Finance Ministry Vice Minister Choi Sang-mok as First Senior Secretary for Economic Affairs

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol appointed Choi Sang-mok, former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, as the inaugural Senior Secretary for Economic Affairs at the Presidential Office on the 1st.
Jang Je-won, Chief Secretary to the President-elect, announced the Blue House personnel appointments at a press conference held at the transition committee's press center in Tongui-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, in the afternoon.
Chief Secretary Jang stated, "South Korea faces urgent economic issues that must be resolved amid a severe economic crisis," adding, "We judged that former Vice Minister Choi Sang-mok, who is widely recognized for his expertise in macroeconomics and financial policy, is the right person to overcome the current situation," explaining the background of the appointment.
Appointee Choi is a career bureaucrat who passed the civil service exam and has held key positions such as Director of Financial Policy at the Ministry of Finance and Economy, Economic and Financial Secretary at the Presidential Office, and First Vice Minister of the Ministry of Strategy and Finance.
