The "2022 World Labor Day Migrant Workers Rally," commemorating Labor Day and urging the protection of migrant workers' human rights in South Korea, was held on the 1st across various locations nationwide, including Seoul, Busan, and Daegu. Hosted by the Migrant Workers' Union and the Migrant Workers' Equality Solidarity, the rally was organized to call for improvements in migrant workers' human rights worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic, the abolition of workplace transfer restrictions stipulated in the Employment Permit System, the establishment of measures to eradicate industrial accident incidents, and the enactment of anti-discrimination laws. At the gathering held in front of the Seoul Regional Employment and Labor Office, migrant workers from the Philippines, Nepal, Cambodia, and other countries held placards with slogans demanding freedom of workplace transfer, implementation of a labor permit system, and guaranteed dormitories where they can live with dignity. After the rally, they marched approximately 1 km to Seoul City Hall Plaza. Here are some photos from the event.
