Jangseong-gun Selected for 'Aged Tourist Site Revitalization Project' Contest... Secures 1.7 Billion KRW
[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] One of the representative tourist attractions of Jangseong, Jeollanam-do, the ‘Jangseongho Tourist Site,’ is undergoing a renovation.
According to the county on the 29th, Jangseongho Tourist Site was finally selected in the ‘2022 Aged Tourist Site Regeneration Project’ contest hosted by Jeollanam-do.
The Aged Tourist Site Regeneration Project is a program to improve old tourist sites to be more pleasant and safe.
Designated as a national tourist site in 1977, Jangseongho Tourist Site is located near the upper stream of Jangseongho and Baegamsan National Park, and is also close to major tourist spots in Jangseong such as Baekyangsa Temple, Namchang Valley, and Ipamsanseong Fortress.
In particular, the Jangseong Culture and Arts Park, where the charms of culture, art, and nature coexist, is a pride of the Jangseongho Tourist Site. The park features 103 sculptures themed on poems, calligraphy, paintings, and sayings left by famous domestic and international figures, attracting visitors’ attention throughout the park.
Inside the park, there is also the Im Kwon-taek Cinematheque, where visitors can explore the works of director Im Kwon-taek, who hails from Jangseong.
Director Im, who directed over 100 films including ‘Seopyeonje’ and ‘Chunhyangjeon,’ is a world-renowned master who won the Best Director Award at the 55th Cannes Film Festival.
The outdoor performance hall built outside the park is also popular as a family outing spot due to its wide lawn and pleasant environment. Although the beautiful scenery remains unchanged, the aging of facilities that has gradually progressed over more than 40 years was inevitable.
Through this contest, the county secured a project budget of 1.7 billion KRW including provincial funds and will begin full-scale project implementation from the second half of the year.
First, the park entrance, roads, walkways, and viewing paths will be comprehensively maintained. The observation deck, which has peeling paint and is worn out, will be newly remodeled, and a photo zone will be installed to increase attractions.
Benches and shade shelters will be installed throughout the park to enhance visitor convenience, and restrooms will also be improved to be more pleasant.
A county official said, “As tourism demand is expected to increase with the start of daily life recovery, we will focus on solid project implementation to ensure a safe and comfortable trip.”
