'Housing Issue Resolution' Highest at 26.4%
Interest Higher Among Younger Ages... 34.1% in Their 20s
The top policy concern among voters in the Gyeonggi region was found to be ‘housing.’
On the 29th, Asia Economy commissioned Realmeter to conduct a public opinion survey from the 27th to 28th targeting 1,010 men and women aged 18 and over residing in Gyeonggi-do (90% mobile, 10% landline, automated response). When asked about the ‘most urgent policy the next governor of Gyeonggi Province should pursue,’ 26.4% responded with ‘solving housing problems,’ the highest percentage. ‘Job creation (24.9%)’ ranked a close second, followed by ‘solving transportation issues (18.0%)’ and ‘strengthening welfare (16.8%).’
Voters hoping for solutions to housing problems were concentrated in the 20s and 30s age groups. The response rate was highest among those aged 18-29 at 34.1%, followed by 29.5% in their 30s. The 40s and 50s age groups recorded 26.8%, and those aged 60 and over showed 18.2%, indicating that interest decreased with age. The 40s, 50s, and 60+ groups showed greater interest in job creation and welfare enhancement.
By political party support, among supporters of the Democratic Party of Korea, the order of urgency was ‘solving housing problems (26.4%),’ ‘strengthening welfare (23.6%),’ and ‘job creation (22.9%).’ Among supporters of the People Power Party, the highest response rates were for ‘job creation (27.2%),’ ‘solving housing problems (26.5%),’ and ‘solving transportation issues (17.3%),’ showing that priorities differed depending on party affiliation.
Respondents who answered ‘other policies’ accounted for 10.4%, and those who answered ‘none or don’t know’ were 3.6%.

How the survey was conducted = This survey was commissioned by Asia Economy and conducted by Realmeter over two days, the 27th and 28th, attempting to contact 57,108 voters aged 18 and over residing in Gyeonggi Province. A total of 1,010 completed responses were collected, with a response rate of 1.8%. The survey was conducted using an automated response method with 90% mobile and 10% landline calls, employing random digit dialing from a randomly generated sampling frame. Statistical adjustments were made using rim weighting based on gender, age group, and region according to the March 2022 resident registration population statistics from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. The sampling error is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
