Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Hosts 'Gender Tok! Tok! Cider' Event
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, created a space for free communication through a play reflecting employees' voices to resolve the long-standing issue of male staff being solely responsible for overnight duty.
On the 28th, Gwangsan-gu held the event "Gender Talk! Talk! Cider" at the Gwangsan Culture and Arts Center, targeting 100 participants including Gwangsan-gu employees and overnight duty and gender equality officers from other local governments, to foster a gender-equal overnight duty culture.
The purpose was to share various opinions and thoughts surrounding the overnight duty work that male employees had been solely responsible for and to find solutions together for a gender-equal overnight duty culture.
In particular, the gender play "Wise Public Service Life," which captured the voices of Gwangsan-gu employees regarding gender-equal overnight duty, drew attention.
This play, conducted jointly by the nonprofit organization Regional Public Policy Platform Gwangju-ro and the theater team "Sinape" from the Gwangju Women's Minwoo Association, was scripted based on actual employee opinions.
The play addressed what could have been a heavy topic in a bright atmosphere, allowing mutual understanding and empathy.
After the performance, a "Gender Talk Concert" was held to facilitate open and candid conversations. Participants freely expressed their thoughts, complaints, or hopes regarding "overnight duty" and exchanged opinions.
Gwangsan-gu plans to gather the various opinions from the talk concert and continue to operate diverse platforms to ensure ongoing dialogue and communication among employees.
