Candidate Kim Jongsik: "I Will Run Again for Mokpo's Development with a Do-or-Die Determination"
On the 28th, Commemoration of Yi Chung-mo's 477th Birthday and Visit to Yi Chungmugong Statue at Yudalsan
[Mokpo=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jeong Seunghyun] Kim Jongsik, the Democratic Party's preliminary candidate for Mokpo mayor, attended a commemorative event this morning (28th) in front of the Yi Sun-sin statue on Yudalsan Mountain to mark the 477th anniversary of Admiral Yi Sun-sin's birth, where he laid flowers and offered incense.
Due to recommendations to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to refrain from holding government and local government events, the traditional ceremony held at the Gohado historic site was canceled, and the event was conducted only as a statue visit by the executive members of the commemorative association.
On this day, candidate Kim Jongsik stated, "Gohado is the historic site where Admiral Yi Sun-sin stationed for 106 days after the Battle of Myeongnyang, rebuilt the navy, secured Panokseon warships and military provisions, creating the turning point that ended the seven-year Imjin War."
He continued, "Even in the crisis of war, I engraved in my heart the life-or-death spirit (Sajeuksaeng, 死則生) left by Admiral Yi Sun-sin, and I will run again with the determination of life-or-death for the development and future of Mokpo," delivering a message to the citizens.
