Yeongam-gun Re-designated as Lifelong Learning City in 2022
Promotion of Establishing a Systematic Lifelong Learning Performance Framework
[Yeongam=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-kyung] Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do, has been re-designated as a lifelong learning city in 2022 by the Ministry of Education and the National Institute for Lifelong Education.
A lifelong learning city refers to a city where a learning community is formed so that any resident can enjoy learning they desire.
Yeongam-gun was re-designated as a lifelong learning city after being evaluated on its lifelong learning promotion achievements and operational status over the past three years since 2019.
In the evaluation, it received high marks for efficient use and management efforts of dedicated lifelong learning spaces, implementation and examples of various lifelong education specializations such as Wangin University, and improvements in program satisfaction.
The county plans to establish a systematic lifelong learning performance system based on this re-designation as a lifelong learning city.
Additionally, this year, it was selected for various lifelong learning-related public projects such as the Jeonnam City and County Lifelong Education Activation Support Project and the Adult Literacy Education Support Project, and will strive to expand diverse educational opportunities for residents.
