Gyeongbuk Province Hosts 'Short-Form Video' Contest for Gyeongbuk Travel This Year
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Short-form videos, which can be consumed anytime and anywhere in a short time, ranging from about 15 seconds to 10 minutes in length, such as web dramas and web variety shows on mobile platforms like TikTok, YouTube, Apple+, Instagram, and Facebook, are becoming popular.
Gyeongbuk Province is holding the ‘2022 Gyeongbuk Travel Short-Form Video Contest,’ a recent trend, to promote hidden tourist spots in the region and share ways to enjoy these tourist destinations.
The contest will be held from June 16 to July 31, and anyone who loves traveling can participate regardless of region or age.
The contest categories are ‘Promoting Hidden Tourist Spots in Gyeongbuk’ and ‘Enjoying Gyeongbuk Tourist Attractions.’ Participants can choose one of the two categories, freely shoot and produce a video within about 60 seconds, upload it to YouTube Shorts or Instagram Reels with hashtags, and then submit the application form via email.
A hash is a ‘gathering’ and a tag means ‘label,’ so a hashtag is a feature that allows sharing information by placing '#footnote' before a specific word or phrase.
The judging will be based on views, number of likes, relevance to the theme, creativity, completeness, and other criteria through internal review, and the winners will be announced on August 12.
Prizes include 3 million KRW for the grand prize, 1.5 million KRW for the gold prize, and 500,000 KRW for the silver prize per category, along with gift certificates, Gyeongbuk Province tourism souvenirs, gifticons, and a total of prizes and awards for 286 teams.
Additionally, as a special award benefit offered by Gyeongbuk Province, winners of the grand prize, gold prize, and silver prize will receive up to 1.5 million KRW in support funds for additional video production.
The winning works will be uploaded on the social media services (SNS) of Gyeongbuk Province and the Gyeongbuk Cultural Tourism Corporation and will also be used as promotional materials for Gyeongbuk tourism.
Kim Sang-cheol, Director of the Culture, Tourism, and Sports Bureau of Gyeongbuk Province, said, “We hope this contest will be used to promote hidden tourist spots in Gyeongbuk, and we ask for active participation and interest in this newly attempted short-form video contest.”
