Incheon City to Establish 'Data Hub' by 2024... Shared with Universities and Private Sector
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City is launching the construction of a 'Data Hub' to open data previously used only within its administrative organization to the private sector.
The city announced on the 28th that it will complete the establishment of an information system master plan for the Incheon Data Hub within this year and plans to build systems such as data storage, big data integrated platform, and Incheon Data Portal over two years starting next year.
The Incheon Data Hub is a project that gathers original data that can be shared and opened from data produced and held by the city, its affiliated organizations, and military/district offices, allowing universities, companies, research institutes, and other private sectors to utilize it.
Until now, data held by administrative agencies was provided to the private sector through the Incheon City website (Public Data Portal), but most of it was statistical data and could not be updated in real-time, failing to meet the expectations of users.
Additionally, due to various restrictions, requests for sharing original data from local universities and research institutions could not be fulfilled.
To overcome these limitations, the city decided to build the 'Incheon Data Hub,' a data sharing platform, to collect data held by administrative agencies in fields such as administration, welfare, transportation, culture, and urban development, process and analyze it, and then provide it to the private sector.
