View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] The Presidential Transition Committee (PTC) has decided to foster 'K-Culture'?including K-pop, games, dramas, movies, and webtoons?as a super-gap industry.
On the 28th, the PTC's Social Welfare and Culture Subcommittee announced the 'National Task for Restoring the Cultural Ecosystem and Growing the Cultural Industry,' which contains these plans.
First, the PTC plans to establish a media and content industry control tower involving both the public and private sectors. This is to provide systematic support at each stage, including talent development, infrastructure construction, business cultivation, and overseas expansion. The PTC stated, "We live in an era where anyone anywhere in the world can listen to K-pop and watch K-dramas like Squid Game through OTT (over-the-top) platforms," adding, "The new government plans to foster K-Culture as a super-gap industry under the 'New Growth Strategy for Future Food Industries.'"
Starting next year, public rental housing will be provided annually to 200 households of artists. Rent support will also be offered to low-income artists. Additionally, the 'First Lifetime Creation Support' for young artists will be expanded, and the scope of support for creative preparation funds will be broadened. A new 'Connection Support' project will be introduced for artists whose artistic activities have been interrupted for more than three years. Furthermore, the number of artists enrolled in employment insurance will be increased, and part of the insurance premiums will be subsidized.
